He is named for me and my mother Frances Maillard ( french for drake or duck.) My mother is related to a family branch who lived in Guernsey, most notable were the editor of the comet, a minister, and one William Job Maillard.

I am descended from the Brewer family two of whom married into the Drake family. First, Thomas Brewer b. c1575 - born and died in England - married Anne Drake. They had two known children, Thomas and John. Then, Thomas' son, John, married Mary Drake on Feb. 12, 1615.

My mother, Katherine Amelia Heller Patton is a great granddaughter of Abigail S. Drake Coldren. Abigail's husband, James M. Coldren is mentioned as a son-in-law of William S. Drake in William's will written in 1850. I'm trying to connect them with the John Drake family from Devon, England. A related surname I have is Warnock. Namely Andrew Warnock who married Lady Mary Drake who was the dau. of Cap. William Drake, probably from SC. Dates are 1600's. Can't seem to find any info on Cap. William Drake.
