Hi there, what a fantistic amount of info. I have read in the short time I
have been
a member of your group, thank you everyone for sharing your findings, now it's
my turn to share some Drake information but it is not direct information.
I have researched back to 1610 on the family surname of SPRAGUE and am
interested to find the link with Sir Francis Drake, Mayor of Plymouth and M.P
1584-1585 born circa. 1540 inTavistock, Devon.
My link may not be through marriage but through a friend or being a neighbour
and follower of Sir Francis Drake as, the little I know of Sir Francis and his
family, the SPRAGUE surname ( or variations i.e. SPRAGG) does not appear on
his family tree. However loose the connection , it's a wonderful project to
delve into.
My SPRAGUE'S come from Tavistock, Morwellham, Bere Ferrers, Bere Alston,
Buckland Monochorum, Farway,. Exeter and Plymouth, all in Devon, England
In Plymouth my William Sprague (Marines) married Elizabeth LABERN 1610
Plymouth St. Andrews, Devon, England.
My direct line follows all William SPRAGUES up to my Great Grandfather,
William
SPRAGUE.
A few sample tree's are under which show christian names of Francis SPRAGUE,
Francis Drake SPRAGUE, Francis Sydenham SPRAGUE and Ursela Drake SPRAGUE.
My tree shows my SPRAGUES as being property owners in Plymouth, Devon, Eng.
connected with the Docks, perhaps this is the only link to Sir Francis Drake?
perhaps they worked on the Crowndale Estate, Tavistock? perhaps I have more
Mariners in my family to connect with Sir Francis? perhaps they played bowls
at the Citadel , Plymouth, Devon with Sir Francis?
Anything 'I' find of interest towards the Drake Surname I will post it on as
someone may wish to log the information found.

lived Sun Street, St.Mary Major, Exeter she died pre 1861 Census their
children
were Elizabeth ;Mary Sprague born 26 Jan 1832, Francis Drake Sprague chr. 14
Sep 1823 St.Edmunds, Exeter (Tobacconist) and Jesse Sprague chr.8 Spr 1827.
Francis Drake Sprague born 1823 mar. Emily born exeter 1823 and had children
Emily born 1843 Exeter and Francis Stephen Sprague born 1845 Exeter (Bank
Manager) he mar. three times third wife Susan born Torquay 1843 produced
children one son named Francis Stephen Sprague born 1878 Newton Abbott, Devon,
Eng.
Another branch is George Sprague mar. 22 May 1785 Sarah Western, Joly Trinity,
Exeter had children Johanna Manley Sprague chr 16 Aug 1789 and Susanna Drake
Sprague chr 7 Aug 1796
Another branch is John Sprague mar. Mary Nossiter had Ursela Drake Sprague
chr. 29 Mar 1795 Sidbury, Devon, Eng.
