Dear Roy
I am searching for the Jonathan and Lucinda
(Bargo or Borjs) Drake that left Sussex county (Newton) NJ about 1850 and
settled in the Newton-Ransom area of Clarks Summit, PA. Lackawanna County.
Lucinda was from Hacketstown, and Jonathan D. was supposed to be from Sussex or
Warren Counties. Has anyone wrote on the New Jersey Drake from those areas.
One of their sons was Emery Lawrence Drake. (approximate year of birth was
1845) Possible other children were Margaret, Permelia, Mary, Hannah & Moses. I
am open for any suggestions!
Thank you,
Marylee Schirg

I am a new visitor to the Drake Loop and I must say that it is so nice to hear
information about the many Drake families from all over the country/states. I
don't know if there are many New Jersey relatives but I'm going to give it a
try.......
I'm interested in information on Jonathan (John) Drake from Newton, NJ. He
married Lucinda Borgoo (Barjs) from Hackettstown, NJ. Approximate dates:
1820-1830.
Children: Permelia 1836 (approximate year born)
Elizabeth 1838
Margaret 1840
Anneretta 1842
Mary 1844
Emery 1846 (Possible name is Moses)
* (my great grandfather)
William 1850
Hannah 1852
Ellias 1854
The family relocated between 1844 to 1854 in the Milwaukee & Newton Ransom
areas of Clarks Summit. Jonathan was a team driver from New Jersey, to the
upstate New York area. Lucy died in 1854 from possible childbirth
complications.
Ellias has been found in the 1870 census living in Scranton. Emery married
Nancy Hall from Jackson, PA. They raised a family in Dalton, PA. Mary
married John Miller, and in 1828 she was living in Mount Vernon, District of
Colombia. Margaret married Conrad Englebrick from Germany. William married
Ida May Brown, and they lived in Springville township (farmer). The other
information on the other children is still pending.
Also looking from information on a Timothy, Joshua, and Jacob Drake from
Sussex County, New Jersey. they also moved to Newton Ransom area in Clarks
Summit.
Thank You,
Marylee Drake Schirg
