Roy,
I noticed your Drake posting yesterday. You helped me out some
years ago over a genealogical matter.
Wonder if you have come across this Drake gent?
From an article "Hempdressers and Ropemakers" in "Strapetona", the
magazine of the Thrapston (Northants) Historical Society:
"Hempdressing, spinning and weaving was a home industry. Wheels, beckles and hemp combs are listed in the inventory of Thos Drake (husbandman) of Chadlington (Oxfordshire) in 1580. "
