These early records have been compiled over a period of time from the Drake-L, English databases and other sources. No attempt is being made by me to take credit for material that has been sent in by other people. My apologies for not crediting all sources of this material -

1216 - Reginald Le Drake held lands at Tiverton, and Ralf and Roger Le Drake held lands at Dartington, Devonshire, at slightly later dates.

1272 - John Drake was granted lands by Edward 1st.of England. 1273 - Seman Drake was living in Cambridgeshire.

1279 - Geoffrey Drake holds a cottage with a croft and which contains half a rood, paying to the abbot 4d.; and he works for 3 days in carrying hay and in other works at the will of the said abbot, each day with I man and in autumn I day in cutting grain with I man. Manor of Alwalton, Huntingdonshire from the Hundred Rolls of 1279.

There are there also 6 other cotters, viz. William Drakejr., Amycia the widow, Alice the widow, Robert son of Eda, Willam Pepper, William Coleman, each of whom holds a cottage with a croft which contains half a rood, paying and doing in all things, each for himself, just as the said William Drake. Manor of Alwalton, Huntingdonshire from the Hundred Rolls of 1279.
