Capt. Friend Drake seems to have requested gun powder for an event of one evening. |
|
Here is a scan of a very interesting document revealing that Capt. Friend Drake seems to have requested gun powder and, incidentally, needed someone to "play" a musical instrument for an event of one evening. I know neither of these Drake men, and they seem to have been of our New England Drakes (I am from the 17th century Virginia lines). It also is interesting that the musician is to travel Sharon, PA and play at some community or military station not far away. Our PA money of 1820 would be equal to about 45 times that sum today, hence this entertainer was asking about $90.00-$100.00 American for his performance. Do with this pic as you choose, or not atall; I will not be offended if the latter is your choice. Do have a nice day. Later. Warmly, Paul Drake
