Hi, my Friend Roy. Thought this 1890 photo would be of interest to Drakes, since we have no idea what these well groomed and stylish young people were depicting.
L. to r., standing, are future Spanish-American War Col. T. E. Andrews with a fan in his hand, next an unknown friend stirring something in a wooden pail, then William Drury Drake (of the Isle of Wight Drakes, 1867-1945), Grandfather of Paul Drake, holding that pail in his left (and only) hand; then the beautiful Edith Roberts quizzically peering into a tin cup.
Bottom, l. to r., are Mae Roberts looking on and the future wife of Col. Andrews; Ida Roberts, future wife of William D. Drake and Grandmother of Paul Drake, pouring something from a bottle into a small ladle; and on the right, Guthery Uncapher, future husband of Edith Roberts, holding a glass stopper and a medicine bottle. The three Roberts women were sisters.
Any guesses as to what they were doing?
Thanks. Paul Drake
