Just 60 years ago, Mr. John Hayes, orchardist, of Bulga, was confirmed in the Jerry's Plains Church, in the Singleton district. When he heard the priest in charge (Rev. C.R. Jessop) move, at Thursday morning session of the Newcastle Diocesan Synod, that the district should be restored to its original status as a Parish, naturally Mr. Hayes was grateful - 'For over 70 years I have been associated with Jerry's Plains Church' - declared this sturdy pioneer.
