DEATH OF MRS. ELLEN ELKIN
It is with deep regret we record the death of Mrs. Elkin, which took place at her residence,
West Maitland, on Tuesday afternoon. Everywhere the knowledge of her death caused
sincere regret, her gentle manner and kind thoughtfulness for all with whom she came in
contact, gained respect and love, but in her case the solemn thruth, "In the midst of life we are in death', was exemplified. The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Bower, of George Street, Singleton - a family which bears the highest respect in the district - and was 33 years of age. Great sympathy is felt for the bereaved family, yet to the dear departed it is but
the entrance to a higher life whither she has gone beckoning her loved ones to follow. The
remains were brought up from Maitland by train to the residence of the parents of deceased.
The funeral took place yesterday morning and was largely attended, the remains being
interred in the Church of England cemetery. died 9th September, 1902…
