Descendants of John Drake
and Nancy Connell
of Kentucky

John Drake
Birth date and place unknown. Died 1816-1820 (His wife
Nancy is listed in the 1820 Kentucky census with four
 children under 10).
Married Nancy Connell May 25, 1812 in Bullitt County,
 Kentucky.
His parents were either John Fulton Drake and Rebecca
Heady or Jesse Drake and Jemima Rose.
 IMPORTANT NOTE:
John Drake's parents are a mystery. Researcher Col. Robert
Jobson wrote in the Salt River Arcadian that John's parents
were Jesse Drake and Jemima Rose but he did not cite his
sources and he has passed away. Other Drake researchers
believe the parents of John Drake were John Fulton Drake and
Rebecca Heady. They base this on John Fulton Drake’s 1825
will from Nelson County. The will lists all of his children,
including his son "John Drake being dead his four children
are to have his part". Since John Drake (husband of Nancy
Connell) died prior to this 1825 will, this reference
could be to him. As of now there is no proof for either set
 of parents.
There is an interesting clue: The Jefferson County marriage
Book (Book 1 page 157) has an entry on August 21,1824 for
Pat Mancy and Matilda Drake, "being the widow of John Drake
decd". I have been unable to find a census record for Pat
Mancy (I tried various spellings such as Nancy, Mansy, etc.)
for the years 1810-1850 in Kentucky.
