From: Gerry Mancuso Date: Tuesday, 7 October 2003 12:19 AM I am seeking information on Isaiah or Isiah Drake born around 1806 in Baltimore City, Maryland. He moved to Washington County, Virginia before 1810 and married Susannah/Susan Denton, daughter of David Denton and Catherine Blessing. Isaiah and Susan can be found on the 1850 Russell County, Virginia census along with their children: Nancy Caroline Drake Dickenson 19, wife of Charles Hugh Dickenson, Cassandra T. K.14, Martin S. 10, Henry N P. 8, Elisabeth J. F. 4 and Joseph 2. They also had a daughter Sarah born in 1851, and possible a son older than Nancy Caroline. An Elisabeth Drake also appears with them on the 1850 census. She was born in 1780 in Maryland. She could possible be Isaiah’s mother. According to census records, Isaiah’s father was born in England. Isaiah listed his occupation on the Russell County VA census as E. M. Minister and Farmer. I believe he was a minister with the Methodist Episcopal Church South and a physician. He moved to Carter County, Kentucky in the mid 1850s. He lists his occupation as Physician on the 1860 Carter County Kentucky, Census. He moved to Wyandotte, Kansas around 1868 and can be found on both the 1870 and 1880 census in Quindaro, Wyandotte Kansas. A bio for Isaiah and his son Joseph Francis Drake can be found in History of Wyandotte County Kansas and its people at http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/wyandott/history/1911/volume2/d/drakejf.html Isaiah and Susan along with their son Joseph Francis, and grandson Ernest L are buried in Griffith Cemetery |
