Date: Friday, 11 June 1999 2:40 In a process-of-elimination-based attempt to trace the ancestry of my own William Drake (d. aft 1798 Greene Co., NY, md. Eunice Helme, and had 10 children), I write to ask if anyone has info on the following two William Drakes listed in the 1790 Census: 1. Willi[am] Drake, Sharon Town, MA 2. William Drake, Catskill, Albany Co, NY and several William Drakes listed in the NJ Tax records for 1741-1790 (some of whom are clearly duplicates): A William on the Lower Alloways Creek, Salem Co, NJ Tax List for 1773 and 1774 A William on the Bridgewater Township, Somerset Co, NJ Tax List for 1793 and 1794 A William on the Bernards Township, Somerset Co, NJ Tax List for 1784-85, 1788-90, and 1792 A William JR on the Bernards Township, Somerset Co, NJ Tax List for 1788-90 A William on the Woodbridge Township, Middlesex Co, NJ Tax List for 1778 A William on the Hopewell Township, Hunterdon Co, NJ Tax List for 1741 A William on the Roxbury Township, Morris Co, NJ Tax List for 1793 A William on the GloucesterTownship, Gloucester Co, NJ Tax List for 1790 As far as I can tell, there are at least three distinct William Drakes in these NJ records. Do any of you descend from these William Drakes? or have any of come across them in your research? I would greatly appreciate any info you can share that might eliminate the possibility that any of these Williams could have married Eunice Helme [d/o Samuel and Mary (Williams) Helme] and been the father of ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Boyer O'Leary MIT Sloan School of Management Organization Studies PhD Program 2 Elm Court, Somerville, MA 02144-2542, 617/776-7352 [Home] |
