Hello to all of you in Drakeland!!

I'm STILL looking for my James A. Drake. We believe he married a Sarah Miller
and was possibly of German descent (Some think he and she came from Holland.).

They had at least one child, Edward Albert Drake, born June 1856 or 1858, in
New York City. According to his Obit., he was born on 12th Clark Street.
Edward married Mehitabel (Hattie May) Tasker Dutton on May 1, 1881 in Conway,
Taylor County, Iowa. Edward and his wife moved from Iowa to South Dakota in
1882. In Vermillion, they had 4 children: Ernest Joy born July 1882 (died
Sept. 1963 in Yates Center, Kansas); Fern Often born Aug. 1885 (died Dec. 1855
in Eureka, Kansas); Laura Leota Ann born Feb. 1887 (died 1913 in Quincy,
Kansas); Edward Albert born Apr. 1888 (died June 1953 in Yates Center,
Kansas). They moved from SD to Woodson County, then Greenwood County, Kansas
where another child was born: Hazel Ressie born Dec. 1892 in Keck, Kansas
(died Mar. 1970 in Paola, Kansas). Edward died near Virgil Aug. 1919 and
Hattie died Sept. 1928.

We tried to get a Birth Cert for Edward, using the 1856 date found on in his
Obit and his Death Cert. NY said "No Go!" I am trying for one using the 1858
date. No reply yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say a special HELLO to Lynn, Barb and
Cousin Marilynn.
