Daniel DRAKE, born ca. 1795, NY; died ?; married Elisbeth Waters. Daniel's parents are unknown to me and I do not know an area in NY either. Parents of Elisbeth Waters are Thomas R. Waters (died ca. 1820/2 Gibson Co., IN) and Martha Southerland (Thomas and Martha were married in KY). Sarah DRAKE, born 12 Oct. 1805, Christian Co., KY to Daniel Drake and Elisbeth Waters. died: 4 Sep 1891 Marshall co., IA; married 30 Jun. 1821 Posey Co., IN to William S. GARRETT. The Drakes were probably Quakers. Family lore says Sarah always wore a little white cap. Family "gossip" says Daniel Drake owned land where Drake Cathedral was built. Census info from Coles Co., IL 1850 census for Wabash precinct 8 nov 1850, page 47 shows families of Thomas DRAKE, 36 farmer, IN (with wife and children's names and ages); William DRAKE 35, farmer, IL (with wife and children's names and ages) and Daniel DRAKE 65 farmer, NY; Ellizabeth DRAKE 67 NC; John Drake 23, IL. It seems as though this census information would be for my Daniel and Elizabeth DRAKE, the ages are correct. This may mean that Sarah DRAKE had brothers William, Thomas and John.
