DECATUR COUNTY ORIGINAL DEED BOOK B 1827 - 1831 No 402 "This Indenture made the third day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty between McKay McCarty and Nancy his wife of the County of Decatur and the State of Indiana of the first part and Benjamin Drake of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnessith that the said McKay McCarty and Nancy his wife for once and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and fifty Dollars to them in hand well and truly paid by the said Benjamin Drake the receipt which is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold by these present do give grant bargain and sell unto the said Benjamin Drake his heirs and assigns forever. All those certain pieces or parcels of land Situated, lying and being in the County of Decatur and the State of Indiana. And known and designated by the west half of the North west quarter of Section No. seven in township number eleven. North of range nine east (except so much of said half quarter as lies South of Big Flat Rock) and except also these acres in the southeast corner thereof heretofore sold to William McCay and also the east half of the southwest (illegible) together with all and singular the hereditaments and appurtences there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining. And the rents issues and profits thereof. To have and to hold the premises aforesaid with the applentenances and every part and parcel there of, hereby bargained and sold or intended to be with the applertenances to the only proper use and behoof of the said Benjamin Drake and to his heirs and assigns, against the claims of all person or persons whomsoever. "State of Indiana, Decatur County, Set (?) Personally before me the undersigned a Justice of the Peace within and for said County McKay McCarty and Nancy his wife the above named grantors and acknowledged the foregoing deed of conveyance to be his voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein and the said Nancy being examined Separate and apart from her said husband as required by law, fully relinquished her right of Dower within and to the premises conveyed, and delivered that She done the same of her own accord without coercion or compulsion of her said husband.
