Daniel S. Drake was born December 12,1805, in Orange County, New York
DANIEL S. DRAKE was born December 12,1805, in Orange County, New York. He was the
son of Judge William S. Drake, who settled in what is now Waldo township in October,
1807. William S. Drake served six months as a captain in the War of 1812 and then
as Indian agent under General Harrison. From 1815 to 1838 he was a mail route agent,
owning and operating a number of routes, that from Columbus to Sandusky being one
of them. Before Waldo township was set off from Delaware County and organized, he
was an associate judge of the Common Pleas Court of Delaware County. He died September
1, 1851. His son, Daniel S. Drake, owned a large stock farm just north of Waldo,
where he resided until his death December 30, 1881. |
