Thankyou: Jackson County Biographies W. M. Drake, M.D., son of D.B. and Elizabeth Drake, was born 22 Jun 1853 in Morgan County OH, and when two years old moved to Iowa, where he went to school most of the time till he reached the age of fourteen years. He then returned to Ohio and attended school till he was twenty years of age, after which he followed farming two years, when he was engaged as clerk in a dry-goods store one year. At this time he began the study of medicine under Drs. Warden and Colston, of Pennsville OH. After reading under these one year, he came to Jackson County and studied under Dr. C.H. Burgess some time, after which he attended three terms of lectures at the Columbus Medical College, from which he graduated 02 Mar 1881, receiving his degree of M.D. Since graduating he has practiced his profession at Coalton with the exception of having attended the lectures at the Miami Medical College one term in 1881-1882. He was married 20 Sep 1882 to Ella, daughter of D.B. and Mary Thomas. |
