EPHRAIM (Benjamin) Drake, born September 12, 1735. "April ye 2d, 1795, being the annual Fast Day, Mrs. Avial Drake informs me that Brother Ephraim Drake departed this life this morning." (Sabbath Book of Nathan Selee of Easton). Married in Norton, August 3, 1757, Sarah Titus of Norton. Ephraim was a member of the first militia company of Easton, April 7, 1757. Also of Easton, and a "husbandman" 1760, when he bought land of Benjamin Drake, Jr. (Bristol County Deeds, vol. xiv., p. 141) He was again reported as of Easton April 10, 1772, also March 30, 1795. (Ibid, vol. ixxxi., p. 238) On October 5, 1800, "Otis, Tutus, and Cornelius D., yeomen, and Ann Storey, spinster, sell twenty acres of land formerly owned by Ephraim Drake of Easton." (Ibid, vol. ixxix., p. 75). On October 4, 1800, "Cornelius, Sarah, and Silence Drake, sell land to Abijah Reed." (Ibid, vol. ixxix., p. 261) Ephraim had issue as follows: i. Ann, b. March 15, 1758; m. Aug. 22, 1793, Thomas Storey. ii. Ephraim, Jr., b. April 22, 1760; d. before 1815. iii. Jacob, b. Aug. 15, 1762 iv. Reuben, b. March 25, 1765; d. Sept. 19, 1799 v. Otis, b. March 8, 1768. vi. Titus, b. about 1771; d. March 9, 1853 vii. Cornelius, m. March 26, 1795, Silence Withington, of whom nothing more is found. |
