My husband is descended from Jacob DRAKE d. ca. 1834 who was married
15 Jun 1822 Carter Co. TN, to Ann Adams WILLIAMS b. ca. 1804.
Their daughter was Eliza Murray DRAKE, who married 
Dr. Newlin A. DAVIS 1842.
 
Ann Adams WILLIAMS was the daughter of Archibald ADAMS and
Rhoda TAYLOR. Rhoda TAYLOR was the daughter of Andrew TAYLOR
and Ann WILSON. Please note the WILLIAMS and TAYLOR envolvement.

I believe that Jacob DRAKE was the son of Abraham DRAKE, who was
the son Benjamin DRAKE and Sarah BUCHANAN.  

All of this and the following information I am sharing, was sent to
me yesterday by my husband's cousin, Marian BUTLER. She has given me
permission to share this with you.

Marriage Bonds - Samuel DRAKE to Eliza MURRAY 11 Sep 1827 
- Signed by Samuel W. WILLIAMS. P. 260 License for above given
- 11 Sep 1827. Married 11 Sep 1827 by Nathan Shipley, J. P.

The signer of the marriage bond, Samuel W. WILLIAMS was the brother
of Ann Adams WILLIAMS who married Jacob DRAKE above. This probably
implys a relationship between Samuel and Jacob DRAKE. Jacob DRAKE 
also named his daughter, Eliza Murray DRAKE.

2. A deed dated 5 Aug 1783 between John SHELBY Jr. and his wife
Elizabeth, of Sullivan Co. N.C. selling to Andrew GREER land in 
Washington Co. TN "at the foot of mountain - on north side of
Watauga River - apisit (sic) the Tumbling Shoals - apisit (sic)
John CARTER's - an old cabin on River Bank." Wit. Joseph GREER,
Jno. McMACHEN, Wm TALBOT.

This is the first mention of the DRAKE land, opposite the 
Tumbling Shoals. Many of the early deeds are lost and early deeds for 
Carter Co. TN, may be found in Washingtion Co. TN.

Benjamin DRAKE bought the Tumbling Shoals land and passed it on
to Abraham DRAKE.  This may imply a relationship between
Benjamin and Abraham DRAKE.  

Jacob DRAKE (my husband's line) bought his land from Isaac TAYLOR Sr.
on Buffalo Creek, Carter Co. "where I now live" ... That land is 
near Milligan College.
