This woman was my G-G-Grandmother and lived in the Roane county area of West Virginia. She was married to John Hayes Patton and had many children. The problem is that she was born out of wedlock and I can find NO info on her biological father who was reputed to be Cherokee. Her mother was Elizabeth Drake. Permelia was born in 1840. Since there are no official records I'm hoping someone has her fathers name tucked away in a bible or letter. (I know thats doubtful). I believe she was raised by Elizabeths brother Michael and his wife and went by the name Millie. Hope springs eternal as they say.... |
