Dear Sirs

Please allow me to point out that the first initial is P. and not F as
printed in the text of your website. Philip was my grandfather (1867-1934)
whose biography I am now writing. His biography of John Obrisset was the
first book he wrote. He dealt fairly fully with the problem of the Drake
Boxes but not entirely to his own satisfaction. However the book was a
success and is now a collector's item.

Yours faithfully

John A. S. Abecasis-Phillips, University Professor i. R.

Hello John and thanks for your interesting message.
My documentation came from a book that a DRake relative wrote
in the UK in the 1930s. Do you have a photo of the snuffbox that
I could use on the website???
Have corrected the spelling mistake,
John

Hi Roy
Who was the Drake relative who wrote you?
You need to write to B T Batsford who published Philip A. S. Phillips'
John Obrisset biog 1931 for copyright permission to be reproduce a
photograph of a Drake box. (But I cannot find them in the 2005 Writers's
Artists' Yearbook.) They have probably been swallowed up by a conglomerate.
I imagine you could obtain a copy via inter-library loan. Sorry I cannot
not be more helpful. Or you try a museum, eg. British Museum.
Regards
John
