Researching: Drake's in: Boydsville, Corning, Oak Bluff Piggott and surrounding areas in Clay County, Arkansas. The years are: 1871-1900. Possible names are: Armour, Armour-Hamilton, Carpenter and Drake.
My great grandfather died "Arthur Hamilton Armour
Carpenter". There is a question about the actual birth year. He was placed in some kind of an orphange upon his birth. Status of birth mother unknown. Status of birth father as told to him was John Hamilton Armour. I feel the accuracy of the true name, year of birth and place of birth could all be false. Fact: In the 1900 Clay County census he is listed as a "Arthur Drake" and living with Lee and Theodosia Carpenter. He is listed as age 16. Fact: He married in 1902. Fact: He named his first born children after his care takers, "Lee and Theodosia". I was told he had siblings possibly Annie, Edward, William. I was told he had uncles in the area of Clay County. Those names were never revealed. Any interest would be helpful. scpatriot@charter.net
