I just found your site as I have been researching the Drake name. I am 16 generations on from Sir Francis Drake through my grandfather's family which can trace it's roots back to Somerset area and beyond.
I have even found reference to the name having Norweigian origins.I suspect it might go back possibly to Germanic / Viking origins possibly being a transaltion of the German 'Drache' or Dragon, quite interesting as I now live in Wales!

Hi, I am related to Sir Francis Drake on my grandfathers side and the only thing that I know is that his youngest brother is my very great grandfather and that our family has three castles in England that had belonged to Sir Francis Drake. I know that when Drake died he left everything that he had to his youngest brother. I don't know any of the youngest brothers children, I don't know his name, I don't know who he married, all I know is that somewhere down the line one of the Drake's had a son named James N. Drake and he married a women named Frances S. McHarness. I would appreciate it if you could help me.
