Sir Roger Drake was Sir F’s brother. He is said to have stayed at home (in Tavistock) while Sir F was out doing his thing. My mother (Muriel Angela Moira Ann(e) Drake claimed descent from Sir R’s side of the family. And to have spent some of her childhood in Tavistock. (She was born c. 1910.) This claim has been queried. She stated her father’s name as Godfrey Orange Drake (minor? perhaps a school designation? and perhaps it was Orange Godfrey, Drake Minor). She also stated that the family records (which were apparently in Exeter) were destroyed by bombing during WWII. Has anybody got a clue here? I am trying to find out if this claimed descent is correct, or even possible. Any information will be greatly appreciated. |
