In particular I seek a link between William Drake b 1794 late of Scotland Co., MO, s/o William and Nancy Chappel Drake and Benjamin Drake father of John Adams Drake father of Gen. Francis Marion Drake former governor of Iowa and benefactor of Drake University, Des Moines, IA.
The above William Drake came from Bedford Co., VA, where he first married Mary Turner Holland and fathered nine children. He then married Mary A. Paul and fathered six children.
John Adams Drake s/o Benjamin platted the town of Drake(s)ville, Davis Co., IA, and his son Gov. (Gen.) Francis Marion Drake would later hail from Centerville, Appanoose Co., IA. This illustrious gentleman surely has researchers who have traced his genealogy and enumerated the many cousins of his day.
My paternal great-great-great-grandfather was the abovementioned William Drake b 1794; and I believe my Missouri Drakes do share ancestors with the Iowa Drakes.
Can anyone help me with this?
I would like to corroborate the relationship of these Drake families.
