My line fits in with the line of Epaphroditus Drake and Susan (Susanna)Barksdale Drake. One of their sons, William Capas Drake, married Rebeckah Mariah Rolls and they begat, among others, Henry Mobil Drake. By this time, this branch had moved from Pike County Georgia (had been in Pennsylvania prior) to Perry County Arkansas, not far from Little Rock. Henry Mobil Drake (my ggrandfather) married Louise Virginia James and they had five children, the youngest being Laura Saravio Drake who married Joseph Walker Cumbie and became my paternal grandparents. Henry Mobil Drake was a physician; he died in a small pox epidemic in Washita, Arkansas in 1901 and is buried there. Louise James Drake and Rebeckah Rolls Drake are buried in Perryville, Ark. Walker and Laura Drake's son Eugene Arden Cumbie married Elnora Henrietta Shrum of Puxico, Missouri and they are my parents. |

By the way, the message about Henry Mobil Drake and Louise Virginia James Drake--the individual who posted this message (me) was adopted as an infant as was my younger brother Terry Arden Cumbie. We have only recently come back into the families. We have two older siblings Larry Eugene Cumbie and Linda Lee Cumbie Decker, plus four younger siblings: Anthony Bernard Cumbie, Karen Cumbie, Tiny Y. Cumbie and Eric A. Cumbie. |
