Friday, 14 March 2008 9:34 AM Dear Roy, Sorry for the delay in replying to your email. As I mentioned, I have written a book "Where did we come from? A family history" which includes a large section on all our Drakes. Like possibly ALL the Drakes, there are family stories that we have a connection to the famous Sir Francis, but my research has found no such link - I have sighted all the old family pedigrees. Here is a summary of our Drakes; THE DRAKES FROM LEICESTERSHIRE & BIRMINGHAM By Ginette Snow SUMMARY of their movements: Thomas Drake (died 1688) & Joan (died 1690) were the earliest in our line of Drakes. Their great great grandson James (1757-1814) & his wife Rebekah Luff (1760-1822) moved to Birmingham. James & Rebekah's grandchildren, Eliza & three of her brothers, James Charles, David & Francis, migrated to Australia (or New Zealand) in about 1855. AUSTRALIAN DRAKES Eliza Drake (1827-1895) married Samuel Parkinson (lived in NSW) ..my ancestors ; also she married Thomas Kidston (lived Victoria & NSW). James Charles Drake (1821-1865) m Margaret Clunie (mainly lived in NZ, but lived a few years in NSW) David Drake (1831-1874) m Annie Gill (lived Victoria) Francis Drake (b 1833) m Annie Armstrong (lived Victoria) NZ DRAKES James Charles Drake (1821-1865) married Margaret Clunie (lived mainly NZ, but also Australia) For more details contact Ginette Snow on email: ginette@snowfamily.com Kind regards Ginette Snow from Australia On 13/02/2008, at 7:50 AM, Roy Andrews wrote: Hi Ginette and thanks for your email.
