A letter that was written by an unknown person living in Rocky Mount, NC wrote to my Great Aunt Myrtle Rowe, dated Oct. 1, 1926 relayed to her the information that Elizabeth Wall Rowe told her about her mother Rebecca Drake. Rebecca, age 12, came with her sister Lucy Drake who married Sam Ligon, in England, to this country by ship. They were so long is coming that Rebecca was afraid to go back alone so she stayed with her sister Lucy until she married Bennett Walls. They called Rebecca Betsy Ann. She and Bennett Wall had four children: 3 boys, John Wall, Joe Wall and Jim Walls, Jim died early and one girl Elizabeth. This letter did say that Rebecca’s father lived in Johnson County when Elizabeth was a young girl. Later the Walls moved to Wake County near Rolesville, NC. Elizabeth married William Rowe in Johnson County, NC in Dec. 1838. No more is known on Lucy or Rebecca. Any information is appreciated.
